Q. Will there be a mess?
A. No. After we’re gone,
you won’t know we were there.
Q. Which areas of the Cape do you service?
A. From Barnstable to Eastham.
Q. How often should I have my chimney
cleaned and inspected?
A. How often you should have your
chimney swept usually depends on how often you use the unit,
which type of wood is burned, and the intensity of the heat
during uses. Typically, the necessity of regular sweeps
can be determined after the second visit, after the technicians
have made a valid comparison.
Q. When is the best time to schedule
a cleaning?
A. Early Spring, immediately
following the heating season. It is always best to get it
done right away to avoid the Autumn rush, which usually has a
two week to two month waiting period for an appointment.
Also, if your flue has a heavy build up of soot that is
not cleaned right away, the Summer’s humidity can often
create an unpleasant odor that will often permeate throughout
the residence.
Q. What type of caps do you install.
A. We stock and supply stainless
steel caps. They are equipped with diamond mesh animal
caging around the sides. The solid lid on top helps
prevent down drafts, water intrusion, and acts as a spark
arrestor. We’ve chosen to supply these caps because
of their strong welds, which often is necessary on Cape Cod
waterfront properties, and their profile height which allows
maximum draft. Copper caps can also be ordered by
request.
Q. Will you be able to do masonry
repair or install a liner upon your first visit?
A. No, masonry repairs and relines
can often take days, even weeks to complete. The initial
visit is only to assess the work needed in an estimate.
We can not give a proper estimate sight unseen.
Q. I want to speak with a live
person. When can I reach someone on the phone?
A. Regular office hours are Monday
through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
